Extend Shelf-Life. Prove Freshness. Preserve Value.
When farmers have no cold chain, they turn to poison: banned chemicals and pesticides such as Sniper, Gammalin 20 and Formalin are sprayed on food to delay spoilage, with often fatal consequences.
Solthera’s value preservation system offers a clean, non-toxic alternative, and food-safe technology that protects perishables before they lose commercial value, enabling farmgate biochemical stasis.
At farmgate and aggregation level, selected fruits and vegetables can be treated with biological stasis sachets before the produce is packed, before it enters a cold room, before the first kilometre of transit.
How it works
The Science of Stasis:
Solthera’s standard is clean preservation, and the alternative to the banned chemicals currently being used for preservation.
We use clean, non-toxic agrochemicals for shelf-life extension and Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) at farm-gate; neutral using ethylene receptors to slow respiration and microbial pressure.
“We deploy biological preservation materials to pause the produce’s internal biological clock and extend shelf life by up to 14 days.”
Step-by-Step Process
01
Apply preservation solution at farmgate
02
Package produce in MAP packaging or crates
03
Seal and store in cold storage for value preservation
The Benefit
The produce remains in its natural state.
This helps the produce remain in its natural state, preserving firmness, colour, texture, shelf life, and market value, with no residue, no residue left, no alteration to taste, texture, or organic integrity.
For farmers, aggregators, and buyers, the benefit is simple:
- More time
- Less waste
- 30–50% less inventory loss
- Fewer rejected goods
- Better price realization
- Longer selling window
- Safe & Eco-friendly
Produce no longer has to be rushed into distress sales because deterioration has already started.

- Shelf-life Intelligence Sticker
Freshness integrity you can see, trust, and trade.
Our shelf-life intelligence stickers are a trust and delivery instrument that addresses the trust problem in the supply chain; the physical proof that what Solthera preserves at the farm gate arrives intact at the market.
- How it Works
It is a CO₂-responsive sensor label applied at hub dispatch. It provides an irreversible, tamper-evident visual record of cold chain integrity from storage to final delivery.
Applied to crates, cartons, pallets, or packs, our indicators provide a simple visual signal that helps teams monitor freshness, rotate stock, identify risk, and give buyers greater confidence at handover.
If temperature thresholds are breached at any point in transit, the label changes colour permanently.
Four Functions, One Sticker.
Consumer-Facing Freshness Guarantee
Visible on retail packaging at point of sale; green means fresh, verified, and cold-chain-compliant. Builds brand trust for retailers listing Solthera-sourced produce.
01
Insurance Evidence Layer
Irreversible colour change is legally admissible evidence of temperature abuse in GIT insurance claims. Eliminates fraudulent claims and disputed liability on damaged deliveries.
02
Franchise & Regulatory Compliance
Provides QSR operators and food manufacturers with a physical, visual compliance record that supplements AfriChill OS digital logs for NAFDAC and franchise audits.
03
Export Compliance Signal
Sticker application is compatible with GlobalGAP and EU phytosanitary documentation requirements; a visible signal to export buyers that cold chain integrity was maintained from farmgate to port.
04
How to Read the Stickers:
- Green
- Full freshness.
- Ample remaining shelf life.
- Yellow
- Approaching midpoint.
- Plan to sell soon.
- Red
- Final zone.
- Use or remove from sale within 24–48h.

The Results
Up to 14-21 additional days of commercial shelf life.
The result is up to 14-21 additional days (produce-dependent) of commercial shelf life before refrigeration takes place.

Storage & Handling
Shelf Life
Each indicator is stable for 1 year from manufacture.
Storage
Keep tags in a cool, dry place before use; avoid direct sunlight or high humidity which can trigger colour change.
Application
Stick on exterior of cartons/crates. Not to be placed inside produce packaging.
Disposal
After use, dispose as non-hazardous waste.
- The Benefit
Our indicators turn freshness from a hidden risk into a visible signal. They help reduce waste, prevent disputes, improve stock rotation, and give buyers confidence in the condition of perishables before they accept, sell, or consume them.
- The Result
Its irreversibility is precisely what makes it credible: to the buyer receiving the delivery, to the insurer underwriting the load, and to the institutional partner who needs documented proof that every batch arrived in the condition it left.

Regulatory Notice
Our indicators are food-safe: they do not touch the food itself. Developed from internationally recognised standards (FAO, Codex Alimentarius, ISO), then calibrated to sub-Saharan African climate variables and indigenous produce genetics, requiring no direct-contact FDA or NAFDAC approval. All materials are inert, and only the adhesive contacts packaging, not the produce.
